It's been well more than a month since D.C. United won back-to-back matches, and two months since it claimed its only road victory of the season.

FC Cincinnati, meanwhile, is still aiming for that elusive first triumph at its new home, TQL Stadium.

United look to stay perfect all-time against host Cincinnati when the clubs meet on Saturday night.

D.C. (6-7-2, 20 points) has managed four points from its last two matches and is coming off a 1-0 victory over rivals New York Red Bulls on Sunday. Ola Kamara scored in his third straight match, on 27 minutes, and United hung on for their second win of July.

Six of Kamara's team-leading seven goals have come over his last six contests.

"A team that creates opportunities is a team who has (the) biggest chance to win the game," United coach Hernan Losada, stating the obvious, told the Washington Post. "This team creates opportunities on the ball and off the ball and is ready to fight."

D.C., however, has not won consecutive matches since May 29 and June 19. That May 29 victory came 3-0 Inter Miami CF for its lone road triumph of 2021. United, though, is 2-0-1 all-time at Cincinnati, and took eight points for the four overall meetings.

FC Cincinnati (3-7-4, 13 points) is 0-2-3 since winning back-to-back contests June 23 and 26. It managed just seven total shots and none on target -- for the second time this season -- during a 3-0 loss at Nashville SC last weekend.

"The important thing, of course, when you have possession a lot (is) what do you do with it to create opportunities?" coach Jaap Stam told Cincinnati's official website.

FCC has totaled only five goals while going 0-3-2 at its shiny new pitch, but it's recorded a draw in each of the last two matches there. Cincinnati's Luciano Acosta, a former member of D.C. United, has a team-leading four goals, and could have a chance to score in a third consecutive home contest this weekend.
